Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground lean pork
  • 8 bread slices or 2 cups of bread crumbs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt or 2 teaspoon of crushed up garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoon of ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. In large mixing bowl mix the meat together. Then add the bread crumbs. If you are using bread slices use a food processor to make crumbs. Add in the rest of the dry ingredients. In a separate small bowl beat the egg, milk, and worcestershire sauce. Then add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and use your hands to mix thoroughly. Press mixture in ungreased meat loaf pan. Spread ketchup on top of loaf. Bake 1 1/2 hour or or until meat thermometer inserted in center of loaf reads 160°F. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Moist, seasoned just right. Save some for sandwiches.

I love meatloaf! My mom used to make it all the time when I was a kid but since I moved out to England, I honestly haven’t had it in such a long time. I miss mom’s home cooked meals and the way she made meatloaf. A few weeks ago I met this girl who I’ve been hanging out with and she’s asked me what are some meals I’d like her to make for me. That’s so sweet of her. Of course, I told her about the meatloaf! Then, I found this! Instantly printing so I can hand it off to her 🙂 Thanks!

“I always not only drain my meat, but rinse it with hot water. This will get all of the grease off. Then I leave it sitting in the collander over couple of paper towels for a few minutes to get as much water off as it can. Then I will bag or freeze it.

And we always do salt, pepper, and garlic in all of our ground beef recipes.”

WOW! This came out so delicious! I do the same thing, taking inspiration from a recipe and then changing it up. I had some left over roasted sweet potatoes so I just carmelized onions, browned the turkey in a pan, added some other vegetables, red thai chili paste, and a bit of lemongrass (along with everything you put in the recipe) and it came out amazingly delicious! My fiance was shocked because I put it together rather quickly and it was so yummy 🙂
